Sony’s latest 40″ LCD TV is the Sony KDL40Z5500. It incorporates all of Sony’s latest developments including the latest version of the Bravia engine, a 200Hz refresh rate and a 10-bit panel. We will discuss all these enhancements further and describe the benefits of each.

This Sony KDL40Z5500 TV is HD ready and has a maximum picture resolution of 1920×1080 the highest currently available. The TV also has a digital tuner and a cable tuner as well as the analogue receiver. The helpful addition of the Bravia sync function allows for all your devices to be used using only the Bravia remote.

Motionflow is Sony’s innovation for reduces flicker and blur in fast paced programs. The latest version of Motionflow increases the frame rate of the Sony KDL40Z5500 TV to 200Hz which means that 200 frames of media are displayed on the T. V every second, twice as many as the next fastest speed TV.

Sony’s latest Bravia engine, the Bravia engine 3, provides improves picture performance across all media types whether that be TV, Movie or gaming. The engine incorporates full digital signal processing resulting in an immensely clear picture and life-like colors. Black levels have been enhanced so they are at their most distinct and natural. Whilst optimizes these key features the engine also automatically detects and displays the optimum picture setting for the appropriate media broadcast.

Along with the above features Sony have also included a 10-bit panel this helps to display more data on the Sony KDL40Z5500 TV at any given time. A dynamic contrast ratio of 1m:1 has been included this helps to increase the black levels whilst also improving color representation. Live color creation also improves the colors displayed by %30 more than a conventional LCD.

With applicast the user can simultaneously watch the TV whilst surfing the internet whether you want to check-out a website that’s just been advertised or forgotten to make a reservation for a restaurant, all can be done without having to move a muscle.

Sony have included four HDMI connections alongside the generic connections that come as standard with TVs, e. G. Scart, RCA and S-video. This allows for all of your HD devices to all be connected so that there is no need for fiddling behind the TV to change the cables over to use the device you want. A USB media player is also included this allows a USB stick to be inserted and any media on it can be viewed through the Sony KDL40Z5500 TV.

The Sony KDL40Z5500 starts at around $1670. As with all new Sony’s now, they offer up to $300 off all new Bravia TVs over 26″ when you trade in an old TV, when bought at selected stores, getting you an even greater price on this TV. Even at full price this TV whilst expensive will not fail to impress. The technicalities of this TV are overwhelming and combined with the slim frame, the ‘Draw the Line’ concept as Sony refer to it as, make your viewing experience unrivalled.
