How I Acquired My DVD Player

I was out having lunch with a couple of friends of mine the other day. We were at this incredibly popular restaurant downtown. They have a wide variety of music that they play while you eat and enjoy the delicious food. And you can either order straight off the menu, if that’s your style, or you can order the mystery meal, and be surprised when it comes.
All of a sudden, they said they were going to give away lots of prizes and gifts. We hadn’t realized it, but this was the restaurant’s one hundred year anniversary. They wanted to thank all the customers for being loyal for the last year. There was this huge tank of fish swimming around, they were going to use them to somehow determine who the winners of the various prizes were going to be. I was very excited.
With a huge cheer, they unveiled the prizes. First prize was this portable DVD player. Over the past few years, this little devils have become incredibly popular and well liked by many people, and for many fantastic reasons. The most obvious use is to use them on long car trips. If you have kids, then you know important it is to keep the kids quite in the back seat, while mom and dad are in front talking about grownup stuff.
And not only families can benefit from these fantastic things. Any particular person who want to more easily pass time in an otherwise boring situation can find many fantastic uses for these wonderful portable DVD players. This was illustrated to me in a story by my dining companion. At his University you could rent lectures on DVD. And when he attended lectures from his more boring instructors, he would watch the interesting ones on his DVD.
Another example that was brought up in our conversation was going to jury duty. While most people bring a book or a newspaper, you could be watching your favorite movies of all time while sitting there in the jury duty room waiting to see if your name was going to be called. If you’ve ever been to jury duty, then you know how incredibly boring it can be.
Of course, when the time came to give away the portable DVD player, was excited. Both my friends have one, but I don’t. And to make a happy day even happier, my name was called, and I won the DVD player. I think I will be a customer at that restaurant for life.
