Why I Chose Peter Pan from the Disney Movie Club
Based on the famous play, and subsequent novel, by J.M. Barrie, “Peter Pan” had been intended to follow the huge success of “Bambi.” Walt Disney had planned to make the film as early as 1939, even going so far as to parley the rights with the Great Ormond Street Hospital (who had been bequeathed the rights to play by Barrie). The onslaught of World War II delayed the production until 1949. The film was not released until 1953.
Disney was eager to cast an real boy to voice Peter Pan, though the character had been portrayed by a young woman to that point in history. Indeed, the characters of Nana and the Crocodile (renamed Tick-Tock and Croc) were depicted as animals, where they had been portrayed by actors on stage. In the 1911 novel, Nana was characterized as a Newfoundland dog, but it was depicted as a St. Bernard in the movie. The most beloved and long-lasting character, next to Peter, was Tinker Bell. Rather than a ray of light, the fairy was depicted as a green-clad, winged girl. To this day, Tinker Bell is one of the most well-liked Disney characters. When she dies in the play, the children in audience are encouraged to clap to bring her back to life – this, of course, is not included in the movie.
In the novel, Captain Hook is eaten by the Crocodile, whereas in the movie he is constantly evading the reptile’s jaws. Likewise, in the play Hook loses his right hand, but the animators felt this would seriously impair his movements, so they decided on the left hand. One of the few traditions carried over from the play concerns using the same actor (in this case the voice actor) to play both Captain Hook and Mr. Darling. Indeed, Hans Conried, the voice actor, was the live-action study for all of Captain Hook’s movements as well.
The story of “Peter Pan” involves the boy who will never grow up, Peter Pan, enticing the Darling children, Wendy, John, and Michael, to join him on his adventures in Never Land. Once there, they join Peter as he battles his arch rival, the pirate Captain Hook. Tinker Bell soon begins to resent Peter’s time with Wendy and inadvertently betrays Peter and the Lost Boys to Hook.
The film features three songs by Sammy Cahn and Sammy Fain that have since become classics of modern soundtrack music. The songs are “You Can Fly,” “The Second Star to the Right,” and “Your Mother and Mine.”
“Peter Pan” is still one of Walt Disney’s most beloved and sought after movies to date. It is ranked in the upper echelon of Disney films, including such classics as “Snow White,” “Bambi,” and “Cinderella.”

Pinocchio is the Best Hand-drawn, Pre-computer Disney animation.
Pinocchio, the character, was created by Carlo Collodi in 1883. The darling boy made from a block of wood by Geppetto the woodcarver was first introduced in the tale The Adventures of Pinocchio.
Collodi was very keen on using a puckish, cynical character to explore his own personal convictions and cultural and political critiques. As late as 1938, this was how Walt Disney had characterized the dearly loved wooden puppet who longed to be a real boy.
Disney, thinking that this interpretation of Pinocchio may not be well liked across the board, halted production on his second animated feature. He asked for a complete rethinking of the character, including how he would move, dress, and look. Initially, Pinocchio looked exactly like a puppet, with a pointed nose, pointed cap, and bare wooden hands. The new version of Pinocchio incorporated a rounded face, gloved five-fingered hands, and the distinct Tyrolean hat. Moreover, Disney did way with Pinocchio’s original scorn and world-weariness and instead opted to make Pinocchio remarkably more nave and childlike.
Likewise, the part of the cricket was rethought and extended from Collodi’s original notion. Not initially in the film production, the cricket was given a considerable part and re-named Jiminy Cricket. He would come to be the voice of Pinocchio’s ethics. Ward Kimball, one of Disney’s best animators, reworked the character to look like the dapper gentleman we are familiar with today. He was unforgettably voiced by Cliff “Ukulele Ike” Edwards, the popular jazz vocalist and ukulele player.
Gideon the Cat was slated to be voiced by Mel Blanc, the famous voice of Bugs Bunny. Disney decided, however, to make Gideon mute, giving Foulfellow the Fox the bulk of the dialogue. All of Blanc’s recorded dialogue, according to Wikipedia, was removed except for a lone hiccup we hear three times throughout the film. When Pinocchio was released in February of 1940, it was successful, but not as successful as Snow White. The total cost of the production was about $2.3 million, about twice as much as Snow White, yet it only recouped $1.9 million. The box office totals were hindered by the outbreak of World War II in Europe. Moreover, the film lacked a romantic element that had made Snow White so well-loved. Despite all these obstacles, Pinocchio was a significant success, including the song “When You Wish Upon A Star,” which would go on to be used as Disney’s memorable fanfare. The song went on to win the Academy Award for Best Song. In 1994, Pinocchio was added to the National Film Registry for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.” It is considered to be the best example of hand-drawn, pre-computer-aided Disney animation.

The first reason is that these things are super cheap. I mean like you could probably scrape together some change from your couch and have enough to buy one of these things. For the price of one tank of gas, maybe two, you could buy yourself one of these players. Some people usually keep two or three of things around, just in case. That’s how cheap they are. For about ten cups of coffee at Starbucks, you could get yourself one of these.
The second reason is they have all kinds of different features which make them perfect for long road trips. Monitors that hook onto your head rests in under a minute. Seamless integration with your cars audio system, so you can all listen at once.
The last powerful reason why every adult should own one of these devices is that they are incredibly versatile. If you thought these were only for the automobile, think again. Any time you find yourself in a situation where you’d like to kill a few minutes, whip this baby out and watch a few minutes of “Avatar,” or “One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest,” or whatever other movie tickles your fancy. How To Have A Successful Family Trip
If you are thinking about taking a long road trip as your next family vacation, then you’ve come to the right place. Here you’ll learn a few easy tips on how to make the most of your family vacation. You will enjoy the ride, enjoy the scenery, and the kids will have the time of their lives. This is much easier than you think, and not taking these steps can lead to disastrous results.
A great way to begin is to plan out all of your stops in advance. Sure, it can seem like a good idea to travel freely, and tell yourself you’ll stop whenever you feel like it. The problem is that with a car full of people, everybody will want to stop at a different time. With planned stops, you will eliminate this, and find yourself pleasing everybody at the same time. To further enhance this, teach the kids how to read a map, so they can participate in following your progress along the road.
Next is to plan to have many activities for your kids to do while you are driving. It can be stimulating for them if you talk to them, but it’s far more important to keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road. Board games, card games are difficult, as they require a flat space. The out of state license plate game is a fantastic game.
Of course, no family excursion would be complete without a DVD player for the kids to watch in the back seat. Naturally, since these devices are pretty inexpensive, you can buy one pretty cheap. This means that you can probably afford one for every kid in your car. And even one for your wife in the passenger seat. All that’s left is to keep a stock of plenty of movies. Some of the more advanced players have a GPS unit, which the kids can use to follow you along on your trip. This can also be great to pass the time, and teach important math skills as well.
Another crucial thing is to take along a good deal of snack food items. Don’t forget, summer vacations are generally a time of fun and gratification, so leave your weight-reduction plan behind. Chips, ice cream, a fridge full of soda pop is a great technique to keep the fun flowing on your extended commute throughout the region.
With these kinds of tips in mind, you can absolutely have a excellent journey which you could conveniently keep in mind for a lifetime.

A Few Quick Tricks For A Wonderful Driving Experience
If you happen to be going on a family trip, there are a few things you should look at before taking off. It goes double, even triple in case you have kids. With the appropriate preparations, your family trip can be quite a dream come true. On the other hand, without proper arranging, you’ll hope you were back at work right away.
One thing to carry out is to plan out exactly where you’ll be getting your breaks. I once went on the road in which myself as well as my mate did an undesirable job of planning our rest stops. When it was time to halt driving, the subsequent city, in line with the map, had been an additional three hundred miles away. Suffice it to say we could have organized things out a little bit better.
The next point you will have to do is be sure you understand which cities possess filling stations. Even in this modern age, with the Internet and mobile phones, some places don’t have filling stations. And those that do, aren’t generally open like they are within the big town. So it pays to check ahead to make sure how far you may drive using one tank, and when you should intend to cease.
The subsequent thought to be aware of is to always have quite a few snack foods. Nothing may get rid of the fun of a car trip faster than having the munchies, and having to destroy precious driving time by pulling up to a 7-11 to pick up a burrito or what not. So do yourself a favor, and bring along one or two bags of chips or something.
If you’ve got children, then using a transportable DVD player is an utter must. Sure, you can participate in a few games such as spotting out of state license plates, but let’s face it. That game is fairly uninteresting. And when youngsters realize that almost all their buddies are able to enjoy “Harry Potter” while traveling, they will desire to likewise.
So do yourself a favor, and keep these ideas in mind. Having a appropriately designed trip, you may be relaxed and recharged to head back to work.

How To Survive A Road Trip
Traveling by automobile with kids may be a lot of fun, or perhaps plenty of aggravation. Proper setting up will make a huge difference. Follow this advice in making the traveling occasion a success.
Print a roadmap showing your first step along with concluding points, with bigger cities designated. When you drive, have the kids mark off the cities or other points of interest on the actual map. This helps these people observe how far they’ve gone, just how much farther you need to go, and teaches them about time and range. It is also great to squash the “how much more time” inquiries.
Take along video games and publications that they are able to engage in independently, and also incorporate some games you are able to play like a family. One of our most favorite is to select a subject, after which we move through the family. If we state “ice cream”, then each individual speaks of a tale or something like that they will remember that entails frozen goodies. This is a powerful way to learn more about your young ones, as well as tell them new experiences.
No journey could be comprehensive without treats. Come up with a bag for every youngster with their own snacks within. They can pick and choose what they want, giving them some overall flexibility and giving you a break. Make sure they know ahead of time how the snacks should last through the entire getaway so that they will not eat them all at one time. Additionally it is fun to have various other goodies stashed away that you can pull out if the children are disjointed.
A DVD player can be an effortless solution to captivate the youngsters as long as you’re driving, but acquiring several family games and routines can help you link along with your young children more and make the journey an improved memory. Should you have a DVD player within your automobile, never depend on it for all your leisure. With all the points reviewed here might make your vacation much easier, and enable you to get closer as a family.

How I Acquired My DVD Player
I was out having lunch with a couple of friends of mine the other day. We were at this incredibly popular restaurant downtown. They have a wide variety of music that they play while you eat and enjoy the delicious food. And you can either order straight off the menu, if that’s your style, or you can order the mystery meal, and be surprised when it comes.
All of a sudden, they said they were going to give away lots of prizes and gifts. We hadn’t realized it, but this was the restaurant’s one hundred year anniversary. They wanted to thank all the customers for being loyal for the last year. There was this huge tank of fish swimming around, they were going to use them to somehow determine who the winners of the various prizes were going to be. I was very excited.
With a huge cheer, they unveiled the prizes. First prize was this portable DVD player. Over the past few years, this little devils have become incredibly popular and well liked by many people, and for many fantastic reasons. The most obvious use is to use them on long car trips. If you have kids, then you know important it is to keep the kids quite in the back seat, while mom and dad are in front talking about grownup stuff.
And not only families can benefit from these fantastic things. Any particular person who want to more easily pass time in an otherwise boring situation can find many fantastic uses for these wonderful portable DVD players. This was illustrated to me in a story by my dining companion. At his University you could rent lectures on DVD. And when he attended lectures from his more boring instructors, he would watch the interesting ones on his DVD.
Another example that was brought up in our conversation was going to jury duty. While most people bring a book or a newspaper, you could be watching your favorite movies of all time while sitting there in the jury duty room waiting to see if your name was going to be called. If you’ve ever been to jury duty, then you know how incredibly boring it can be.
Of course, when the time came to give away the portable DVD player, was excited. Both my friends have one, but I don’t. And to make a happy day even happier, my name was called, and I won the DVD player. I think I will be a customer at that restaurant for life.

Make Your Road Trip A Safe One
Driving places can be a great joy, or can be a terrible tragedy, depending on how you plan your trip. Most people take long driving trips because they enjoy the scenery on the way there, as well as the final destination. Since you likely want to enjoy both, here are some good tips to get you there in one piece. Not only that, but you’ll have a grand time along the way.
The primary rule to follow is to drink lots of water. Even though the inside of your car can be deceptively cool due to the air conditioning, it is also dry as well. Car air conditioners are notorious for drying out the air, which can dehydrate your body, as well as the passengers in your car. Drinking water, therefore, is the most important thing you can do on a long car trip. It will keep you sharp and focused, and your passengers hydrated, healthy, and happy.
One thing that most people overlook when taking long road trips is the importance of taking breaks. Sure you want to get there quickly, but so quick you risk your life? Taking breaks can help you to stay limber and loose. Without breaks, you run the risk of muscle cramps. These can seriously diminish your ability to effectively operate a motor vehicle. One break every hour, of about ten minutes, is optimal. When you take a break, try to get out and walk around.
If you have kids, you know how difficult it is to focus on driving when there is a ruckus in the back seat. Screaming, fighting and yelling between children is a definite detriment to safe driving. One great solution to this common problem is to get a portable DVD player for the back seat. These can easily be mounted behind the headrests, allowing the children to watch their favorite movies in silence, while you can focus on the driving. This is a happy solution that will please everybody.
Following these three simple but powerful suggestions will be a great way to ensure your trip is not only pleasant, but enjoyable and safe as well. These are simple to implement, and will have you enjoying the finest driving trip of your life.

The Astounding DVD Player
With the massive increase in technology available to almost everybody today, it’s a great time to be alive. Evidence of this is that more and more people are choosing to make use of this technology to improve and enhance their lives. A way in particular that is becoming more and more popular is using portable these in automobiles on long car trips.
Up to only a few years ago, having the capability to watch DVDs in your car was considered a luxury. If you went to any particular car dealership, the extra price of having a player and screen included would be in the thousands of dollars. Now anybody can stroll on down to Radio Shack, buy a player, and have it up and running in a matter of minutes, if not seconds.
Many of these come with headphone jacks, so the kids in the back seat can watch their own personal DVD, while listening through the headphones. Kids love this, as it allows them to tune out the boring car ride, and focus on their favorite movie in private, that nobody else can hear. And with the price of these things dropping like a stone in a deep lake, it’s not out of the question to have a player for every kid in your family.
One popular thing these days is to get one of those players with a split screen. It’s really straightforward how these are set up. There is only one player, but two different screens. The player is easily mounted between the seats, or on the floor. Then each screen is easily mounted behind the headrests. Then the kids in the back can watch movies with or without the headphones. And don’t worry about mounting them to the headrests, everything is included.
Of course, you can play the sound from the movies in three ways. The first option is to play with the stereo speakers included on the player itself. You can also use headphones, allowing the viewer privacy as well as not bothering the others in the car. Obviously, you can also play the sound through your car’s speaker system, which will give a really cool movie theater effect. It also allows everybody enjoy what is going on in the movie without having to watch.
It’s amazing the different ways you can use your portable DVD player. Those that have tried them say they can never go back to a car without a DVD player.
